        • Description: Photograph dated Jan. 7, 1941. Original caption reads: "Allis-Chalmers tractors and Baker "V" type snowplow units used for plowing sidewalks. These four snowplow units replaced the thirteen horse-drawn units that had always been used previously. No. 1 and No. 2 Tractors were purchased in November, 1939 and No. 3 and No. 4 Tractors were purchased in November, 1940. These units do the entire sidewalk plowing consisting of approximately 130 miles of sidewalks in the city of Burlington at very much less cost and much more efficiently than the old horse-drawn units. The trailer sleds shown in the picture were used for sanding sidewalks during the winter 1940-41."

                • Description: February 20, 1944. This view taken on So. Winooski Ave near the First Congregational Church shows the Snow King Rotary Snow Loader mounted on Walter Snow Fighter truck loading snow from the street into a 10 cubic yard truck body. One of these truck loads is approximately 3/4 of a minute. An average fall of 6 inches of snow will require the hauling of approximately 250 loads of snow from the business streets.

                    • Description: Mar. 18, 1940. This view shows the Snow King Rotary Snow Plow in section mounted on the front of the Street Department's Walter's Snow Fighter Truck in front of the Post Office on Main Street. Note the discharge spout delivering snow over the high side boards of the five cubic yard truck. This loader is capable of loading a five cubic yard load in less than one-half minutes and has frequently loaded one hundred-five cubic yard truck loads of new fallen snow in approximately one and one-half hours working time including delays because of traffic and street intersections clean up.
