      • Description: September 4, 1941. Burlington Municipal Airport, WPA (Work Projects Administration) Project. This view is taken from the extreme southerly end of the new diagonal runway looking in the northwesterly direction. The equipment in the foreground is completing the mixing and spreading of the asphalt emulsion soil stabilization base. The windrows of mixed soil base can be seen in the left foreground as well as the final application of emulsified asphalt which has just been applied to the area in the right foreground which is being bladed into the surface to enrich the top one inch in depth.

Only a small amount of the raw slope remains to be completed and grassed over near the Pomeroy Cottage as shown on the right side of this picture.

This view shows the completed road including the entrance gate and nearly completed slopes leading from intersection of North Bend St. and St. Louis St. to Cat's Island. Note the comparison with picture 1-A taken just as work was being started on this project. The remainder of the slope will be completed this summer by surfacing with top soil and sowing grass seed similar to remainder of job as shown.

                    • Description: March 7, 1935. Photo #1 This view shows the reforestation project of the Street Department and our Sand and Gravel Plant in the Town of Williston. This plant includes an area of forty-eight acres with 45,000 spruces and pines set out in June 1933. The Gravel Bin can be seen in the background as well as Mt. Mansfield in the far background. This area is the period of thirty or forty years will be of tremendous value to the city of Burlington through its growth of pine and spruce.
