This base is approximately 2 inches in depth over an 8 inch telfold stone base placed on a 6 inch sand cushion. A new 24 inch sewer main was constructed on this block during the latter part of the year 1941.

                  • Description: March 22, 1946 Institute Road - Rock Excavation Street Widening Project. This view looking easterly toward North Ave. shows the work after it was practically completed on the south side. Note the large stump in the center background being hauled on a stoneboat by the four-wheel drive Walter truck. Approximately 650 cubic yards of rock excavation was removed from both sides of the street and used for filling and widening the shoulders. This project was requested by the Park Department to improve the safety of the traveling public in getting to and from North Beach. The work was done by the Street Department.
