      • Description: City of Burlington, Vermont - Municipal Airport Photo dated Oct. 6, 1944. This view shows the form work for the north wall of the concrete foundation walls being constructed by Street Department forces for the resetting of the metal hangar just south of the wooden hangar. A contract was awarded to the Street Department to build these foundation walls including all materials, labor and equipment for the sum of $1500.00. Construction workers, wooden planks for getting up to and down from the main platform and vehicles can be seen.

        • Description: City of Burlington, Vermont - Municipal Airport Photo dated Sept. 12, 1944 Administration Building:- This view shows the Administration Building including the beacon tower and the north wing and a section of the metal hangar as seen looking easterly as you approach the building just inside the west gate. Note the narrow passageway between the main building and the metal hangar. It is proposed to remove the metal hangar to provide space for constructing a south wing.

                  • Description: May 23, 1942. This view shows the embankment between the Central Vermont Railroad and North Bend Street through which the road will be constructed leading from the intersection of North Bend St. and St. Louis St. to Cat's Island a distance of approximately 1500 lineal feet. The road here will be constructed on 7-3/4 percent grade. The difference in elevation between the level of the curbs on the North Bend St. at the intersection of St. Louis St. and the iron pipe on Cat's Island at the proposed City Dump is approximately 83 feet and the difference in elevation between this iron pipe and the level of the Intervale at the bottom of the dump is approximately 41 ft. Note:-The depth of the ravine in the foreground as indicated by the power line, also note the several private dumps in the rear of the houses on North Bend St.

                    • Description: August 3, 1944. This view taken from the same position on the sand hill across from the railroad track from which the preceding view was taken shows the remaining section of the road leading from the slope on the old railroad fill known as Cat's Island. This road has all been recently improved by constructing mixed-in-place stabilized base using was crank-case oil and constructing an armor coat wearing surface with peastone and chips penetrated with HRM asphaltic emulsion. Note the Salvage Depot building where all salvageable materials are handled and processed, also the small hose house for fire protection equipment and the smoke rising from the far end of the "Island" where all unsalvageable wastes are burned daily.
