      • Description: March 13, 1940. Intersection of North Street and North Winooski Avenue. This view shows the style of new street signs just erected on North Street from North Winooski Avenue to North Avenue. These signs were designed, constructed and erected by Street Department employees during the winter months. The name plates were purchased from the Lyle Signs Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota. There were seventeen of these signs constructed and erected on this street. Retail stores can be seen and include a barber shop, Kirby's Radio Shop (250 North St.) and Brockton Shoe Store (248 North St).

The double disc harrow is here being hauled by an Allis-Chalmers Bulldozer Tractor. The business name of Holcomb Trucking Co. appears on the back of the tractor. Work done by the Burlington Street Dept. Undated but may be 1942.
