        • Description: Aug 25, 1929 dated photo. Pouring concrete base on College Street in front of College Street Congregational Church. Note the construction of the base showing dowels spaced 5' on centers. This concrete base was constructed in 3--10' slabs 6" in thickness with 30" gutters on either sides extending 2" above the concrete base allowing for the surface coarse of Asphalt 2" in thickness. This work is all done by City labor and City equipment of the Burlington Street Dept. Fletcher Free Library can be seen in the background on the right.

            • Description: Aug. 15, 1939 date photo. PWA Project Vt. 1097-F, Intersection of Intervale Avenue, Elmwood Avenue and North Street. This view shows the broad intersection of the three above streets after the completion of the Plant-Mix apshalt pavement consisting of a leveling course averaging approximately one and one-half inches in thickness and a wearing coarse aggregate or "Binder" material with 50-60 penetration asphalt cement. The wearing surface was constructed with fine aggregate using a mixture of 50-60 penetration asphalt cement and American Bitumuls tempering fluid.

Original caption reads: WPA (Work Projects Administration) Grove Street Bridge, Project No. 465-12-1-15 This view shows the completed Grove Street Bridge Project which was completed late in the year 1938. It consists of a heavy corrugated steel plate arch with reinforced concrete base, sidewalls, and floor slab, using second-hand building brick for the headwalls and spandrel walls with concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters and penetration asphalt pavement.
