Original caption reads: Barrett Street Improvements: This view shows the construction of the stone-filled-sheet asphalt hot plant-mix after the telford stone base and asphalt penetration binder course had been completed as well as the new integral concrete curbs and gutters and concrete sidewalks as shown. Note that the Rossetti residence has been raised to approximately the grade of the street but has not at this date been moved north. The new foundations at this time having been only partially completed.

On the left is the Abernethy Clarkson Wright building, on the right Masonic Temple then housing a drug store, Simpson's Fur and Luggage. Sign for Preston's jewelers and Sears department store can be seen further down on the right. Traffic light seen in foreground center of the photo.

Note the irregular appearance of the curb line in the left side and the old trolley track rails and overhead wires on the right. These tracks are to be removed allowing for a wider pavement and new curb and gutters are to be constructed. Note the position of the concrete curb at the end of the radius on East Ave. where it appears in the right foreground of the picture outside of the tracks.
