This view looking easterly from the intersection of the road leading to Bishop Hopkins Hall looking toward North Ave. Shows the appearance of the sidewalk and filling as it was being constructed. Note that the sidewalk was placed parallel to the street line and a sufficient distance from the trees to avoid any injury to the trees.

Original captions reads: Marble Ave. Street Improvement Construction - pavement construction - looking westerly from Hayward St. This view shows stone base ready to receive asphalt penetration. This base is approximately 2 inches in depth over an 8 inch telfold stone base placed on a 6 inch sand cushion. A new 24 inch sewer main was constructed on this block during the latter part of the year 1941.

- Description: Photograph dated Oct. 16, 1940. Original caption reads: North Avenue Concrete Paving Project. This view shows the construction of the westerly slab starting at the intersection of Stanford Road after the easterly slab had been completed to a point near the intersection. This was made possible by the use of one-half bag of cement extra in each four bag batch when pouring this intersection slab. Taffic was allowed over the new slab after twenty-four hours curing time.
