Note the old car tracks on the left which are to be removed.

This picture taken just before repaving construction work began. Dwellings numbering in the 400s seen to the left. On the right is No. 6-8 Chase Street, Dan Day Brick Store. Original captions reads: Marble Ave. Street Improvement Construction - pavement construction - looking westerly from Hayward St. This view shows stone base ready to receive asphalt penetration. This base is approximately 2 inches in depth over an 8 inch telfold stone base placed on a 6 inch sand cushion. A new 24 inch sewer main was constructed on this block during the latter part of the year 1941.

Hayward Street Improvements: This view shows the drop-hammer weighing approximately 1 1/2 tons being operated by the crane to break through the frost in place of compressor and paving breakers. W.C. Kirby's power-shovel is loading the material into trucks. Three new catch basins were constructed on this intersection to replace the old one.
