- Description: January 12, 1942 Hayward Street Improvements: This view shows the drop-hammer weighing approximately 1 1/2 tons being operated by the crane to break through the frost in place of compressor and paving breakers. W.C. Kirby's power-shovel is loading the material into trucks. Three new catch basins were constructed on this intersection to replace the old one.

- Description: March 22, 1946 Institute Road - Rock Excavation Street Widening Project. This view looking easterly toward North Ave. shows the work after it was practically completed on the south side. Note the large stump in the center background being hauled on a stoneboat by the four-wheel drive Walter truck. Approximately 650 cubic yards of rock excavation was removed from both sides of the street and used for filling and widening the shoulders. This project was requested by the Park Department to improve the safety of the traveling public in getting to and from North Beach. The work was done by the Street Department.

- Description: July 12, 1945. North Bend Street Asphalt Pavement Project. This view taken from the intersection of Pitkin St. and Ward St. looking westerly shows the preparation of the crushed stone base on the northerly half of the street before receiving the asphalt penetration. Note the windrows of excavated material along the shoulder of the street back of the curb where it was pushed with the aid of a heavy duty power grader to eliminate hand labor and hauling off the job.
