    • Description: May 23, 1942. This view is taken approximately at the top of the slope on the southerly shoulder of the proposed roadway leading to the proposed City Dump site on the Intervale. The house shown in this picture is the residence commonly known as the Pomeroy Cottage. The railroad tracks in the background of the picture are the Central Vermont tracks leading to the tunnel. The power line poles at the right in the picture are on the approximate right hand shoulder of the roadway leading down the grade.

Original caption reads: Briggs St. Street Improvements, pavement construction Looking south from intersection of Flynn Ave. This view shows the street after excavation work had been completed with power shovel to a depth to allow a 3 inch sand cushion with 8 inch telford stone base and 2 inch penetration binder course with a 2 inch wearing course of asphalt penetration. Note the stone base being constructed in the background at the intersection of Ferguson Ave., also sewer connection being installed from manhole on Ferguson Ave., to new addition being built at the south end of the Vermont Structural Steel Corp. Plant.
