COPY January 11, 1932 My dear Mother: I enjoyed your letter so much, and I am grateful to you for calling attention to the Memorial to Senator Greene. I have remitted to The Mess enger $5.00 from Mildred and me which I assure you I am most happy to contribute, and if they run short I will be glad to add to it. We are wasting a lot of time here making politi- cal speeches, but I suppose that, from years of experience, this procedure has been found neces- sary. I strongly suspect however, that a new batch of Senators with the right degree of finesse and strength, could change this into a more orderly body having some system that would keep Senators on the issue before the Senate until the business was transacted, and which would also afford them a chance to make speeches at a proper time. We are both well and join in sending you love. Your loving son, Mrs. C.G.Austin, 91 South Main Street, St. Albans, Vermont.
