					<l>VICTOR RUSSELL, CLERK</l>
					<l>United States Senate</l>
					<l>COMMITTEE ON MILITARY AFFAIRS</l>
					<l>April 8, 1933</l>
					<l>My dear Mother:</l>
<l>I have been very amused to receive yours of the</l>
<l>6th, and am grateful to you for your love, as well</l>
<l>as the beans. They have not arrived yet, of course,</l>
<l>but will do so, no doubt, in due time. I am look-</l>
					<l>ing forward to them.</l>
<l>We are at work on the Emergency Farm Mortgage Act,</l>
<l>and I do not know where it will land us. I have to</l>
<l>admit that I am very apprehensive of the arbitrary</l>
<l>powers which are being placed in the hands of one</l>
<l>man. Last night I heard that the President was</l>
<l>going to cut off agricultural colleges, extension</l>
<l>service, and industrial education. That would be</l>
<l>a real blow at the citizenship of this Country when</l>
<l>we seem to need the education and training in sta-</l>
<l>bility which these activities give. I am going</l>
<l>to try to head the thing off, and I am sure to have</l>
<l>a tremendous backing in the effort.</l>
					<l>Love from us both.</l>
					<l>Your affectionate son,</l>
					<l>Warren</l>
