My Dear Mother:
Just a moment to
express our love and tell
you that we are thinking
of you.
I have been unusually
engaged with the boundary
case and extra work on
the floor of the Senate.
Our leader Senator
Mr McNary asked me to help
him with the farm relief
bill & so I have had to
be constantly by his side
keeping track of the parliamentary
proceedings and all amendments.
I[t] has been a trying experience
to see the administration
departing farther and
farther from American
ideals and liberty. Every
bill seems to contain
some waiver of the powers
and duties of the Congress
and the delegation of its
functions to the President.
We are headed for a
dictatorship which will
make Mussolini blush.
