					<l>COPY</l>
					<l>January 19, 1934</l>
					<l>My dear Mother:</l>
<l>We were very happy to get your letter of the</l>
<l>13th. I have been too busy since then to</l>
					<l>answer it.</l>
<l>Republicans here are encouraged by the vote</l>
<l>in Vermont, although I must confess that the</l>
<l>returns from Franklin, Chlttenden and Rutland</l>
<l>Counties indicete the necessary of some vigorous</l>
<l>work there this year in my campeign. I have not</l>
<l>definitely announced my candidacy, and will not</l>
<l>do so until much later, so that what I write you</l>
<l>about politics is strictly between us.</l>
<l>I had really a very happy time with Chen and Ros</l>
<l>while they were here, although we could not be</l>
<l>together as much as we wished.</l>
<l>I suppose that St. Albans, and especially the</l>
<l>vicinity of your home, must have been like fairy</l>
<l>land after that lovely fell of snow. Probably</l>
<l>it shut you in pretty closely, though.</l>
					<l>Mrs. G. G. Austin,</l>
					<l>91 South Main Street,</l>
					<l>St. Albans, Vermont.</l>
<l>We are both well and send you our love.</l>
					<l>Affectionately,</l>
