United States Senate Washington, D.C. Monday Apr. 15 My Dear Mother- I have been overworked and so have not had a chance to write you. Just now I am listening to Sen. Wheeler make a speech and so can write you without much interruption! I am assisting our leader Sen. McNary, at his request, since the Minority did not elect a "whip" this Session.  Therefore I have to be on the Senate floor nearly constantly- I was the only member of the Subcommittee of the Judiciary which who was opposed to the Black 30 Hour Bill. This may come up any time and I must be ready and on hand. I am very eager to get back to Vermont but the prospect of our finishing the Session before August is poor- Mildred is fine and would [ ] me in Love- Warren
