My Dear Mother:
Time glides along
in spite of all I can do
to write you. Mildred and
I enjoyed your last letter
very much. We work all
day and a large part of
every night. When Lent
comes we may slow down
on the social engagements.
Today we are considering
in judiciary Committee
a bitterly fought
confirmation of the appointment
of a Federal Judge for
the 5th Circuit which
involves Missisippi [Mississippi] and
arrays Sen. Bilbo against
Sen. Harrison. You will
get some violent speeches
in the Record perhaps
next week on that case.
Holmes is the name of the
appointee.
We are losing our snow
and ice. Soon the buds
will start. Then we hope
to get you down here.
