My dear Mother:
What an awful landslide. It makes Vermont
more glorious than ever however, for
standing so firmly and vigorously against
the New Deal.
I am enclosing herewith letter from Miss
Verbena A. Tompkins and carbon copy of my
reply. Doubtless you will hear from her.
I leave in a little while for Rutland,
where I speak to the Rutland Bar Associa-
tion tonight.
Tomorrow night I will go to New York, and
Sunday night, go to Washington.
