My dear Mother:
I am in great haste, but I must tell you
how much I appreciate the encouragement
of your letter of the 6th.
We are in a storm center here this morn-
ing. The President's obvious designs on
the Supreme Court have aroused a storm
which beats up from all sides.
You know where I stand, and shall con-
tinue to stand.
