United States Senate Washington March 9, 1937. My Dear Mother: I am listening to the debate on the Pure Food and Drug Bill but can write you my love without interrupting anything very important this moment. We will start hearings in the Judiciary Committee in the Court Bill tomorrow. Republicans have held their fine and kept their powder dry in order to not embarrass or make difficult the  opposition in the ranks of the Democrats.  Possibly the hearings will justify more often opposition by Republicans before long. It is like sitting on a safety value! I go into sub-committee on the Guffey Coal Bill this afternoon Best love, Warren
