My Dear Mother
We are debating the Conference
Report of the Committees of the two
[ ] on the Neutrality Bill-
As awarded, it still seems to me
to be unneutral, and to give
power to the President to get us
into some other fellows war. I
shall vote against it.
Sen. McNary is ill today and
I am taking his place as
leader of the Minority. This
keeps me on the floor or
so near it that I can step
right in.
We had a bad storm on the Chesapeake
and Potomac & Mildred was
ill for a short time. While it
lasted it was almost as
violent as the wind-- which
blew 70 miles an hour.
We got pretty wet and tired-
The situation in the Judiciary
Committee on the Court Bill
is getting better. I believe
we stand 10 to 8 against
the Bill-
