Dear Mother:
I am leaving tonight
for Little Rock, Ark. to
attend the funeral of my
friend Senator Robinson.
I regret that the
President could not
refrain from getting
advantage of the sad
publicity to propagandize
the people for his court
packing bill. Confidentially
I regard his letter as a
gastly abuse of sentiment.
His idea of "the more
abundant life" does not
contain the things of highest
value.
