					<l>United States Senate</l>
					<l>Washington</l>
					<l>Nov 16, 1937</l>
					<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
<l>Sen. Byrnes of So. Carolina is</l>
					<l>making a long speech on</l>
					<l>the reorganization bill.  We</l>
					<l>will next consider a point</l>
<l>of order raised to the motion</l>
					<l>to proceed with the anti-</l>
					<l>Lynching Bill.  There is some</l>
					<l>confusion about the business</l>
					<l>to be transacted.  Nero</l>
					<l>fiddles while Rome burns.</l>
					<l>Chairs has now ruled against</l>
<l>the point of order.  This starts</l>
					<l>a debate.</l>

					<l>previously had my lunch</l>
					<l>of sandwiches-</l>
					<l>Our trip down was comfortable</l>
<l>in spite of storm and floods.</l>
