<l>United States Senate</l>
<l>Washington, D.C. Jan. 26, 1938.</l>
<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
<l>We will vote in a petition for cloture</l>
<l>tomorrow. The proposition</l>
<l>raises a question of greater</l>
<l>importance than the the one </l>
<l>raised by the Bill on which</l>
<l>it is desired to terminate</l>
<l>the fillibuster. I have no</l>
<l>hesitancy in deciding to vote</l>
<l>against cloture altho' I</l>
<l>intend to vote for the Anti-Lynching</l>
<l>Bill and dislike to have the</l>
<l>fillibuster end. I believe we ought</l>
<l>to preserve the right of unlimited</l>
<l>debate in the Senate-</l>
