Senate Chamber Jan. 27, 1938. My Dear Mother: Well the Senate refused to put the "gag" on the fillibuster.  So the wearisome grind continues. I have wanted to write a speech for Feb. 12 but my various efforts so far have failed. It is cold here but there is no snow.  I have walked  from the Mayflower to the Senate Office two mornings in succession.  Wish I could keep doing it.  We need exercise while we sit way into the night.
