<l>United States Senate</l>
<l>Washington</l>
<l>Feb. 14, 1938.</l>
<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
<l>I had a great audience at</l>
<l>Utica- All who could get into</l>
<l>the hall- Standing and sitting-</l>
<l>The people are certainly con-</l>
<l>cerned about government.</l>
<l>Probably you could not</l>
<l>hear my broadcast. The</l>
<l>hook-up was limited to the</l>
<l>surrounding counties.</l>
<l>Edward & Ruth were there.</l>
<l>They are fine. On my return I</l>
<l>was glad to get your fine letters.</l>
<l>This morning we voted in</l>
<l>the Judiciary Com. on Equal</l>
<l>rights for women. 8 to 8. 7 voted</l>
<l>for it. A motion to reconsider is now</l>
<l>pending-</l>
