United States Senate Washington Feb. 21, 1938. My Dear Mother: We have a few moments after our regular meeting of the Judiciary Comm. & before the Senate convenes, to write you. The Jackson nomination was not acted on this morning because the hearings have not been printed yet.  Mr. Jackson is undoubtedly qualified for his office, but the discussion of his confirmation will center on the greater question of the school of thought that he represents.  His confirmation affords an opportunity to get the great issues involved to the attention of the people.
