					<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
<l>Here we are at April Fools Day and</l>
					<l>I recall the tied [ ] and the</l>
					<l>oranges stuffed with cotton etc</l>
<l>which we used to have for breakfast</l>
<l>on that amusing day in our</l>
					<l>family- Nothing like it now.</l>
					<l>Yesterday was an effective</l>
					<l>day for me.  I obtained ammendments</l>
<l>to an airmail bill that (if they</l>
<l>stay in the bill in the House) will</l>
					<l>bring to a successful finish my</l>
<l>long fight for justice in that</l>
					<l>connection.</l>
<l>I also got Sen. La Follette to</l>
					<l>include Porto [Puerto] Rico in a bill</l>
					<l>relating to Public Health</l>
					<l>Best love</l>
