United States Senate Washington, D.C. Jan 20, 1939. My Dear Mother: Sen. Bridges now has the floor.  He is taking the [ ] off of Mr. Hopkins. Last night the Presidents dinner to the Judiciary was a grand affair.  Probably 100 there. Justice Reed took in Mildred and I took in Mrs. Frankfurter. She is a beautiful, cultured lady. She sat at my right.  Mrs. Jackson wife of the Solicitor General at my left.  After dinner I had a conversation with the President and Chief Justice Hughes with whom I was asked to sit for the after dinner smoke. I think Mildreds cold is no better.  I feel so sorry for her.  It is in her head and I hope that it does not go to her lungs. Best love- Warren
