My Dear Mother:
I missed the pleasure of
writing you yesterday because
I just couldn't get the time.
Yesterday I got thro' the Judiciary
Committee, against strong
opposition by my friend Senator
Burke, the bill to reimburse
Vermont for claims for
expenditures for national
defense in the War of 1812.
It amounted to $92,000.
This is only the beginning.
The fight will continue
in the Senate & House-
but I love a fight!!
Today I have attended a
hearing on legislation to
provide for judicial
review of such administrative
boards as the U.S.R.B. etc.
Also drawn and filed my
report on the Vermont bill.
Also visited the Food
& Drug Admin. regarding
maple sugar interests
and [and] now on floor
of Senate where the
Reorganization Bill debate
is going on.
Also looked after a
matter for Vermont Marble Co.
