United States Senate Washington June 1, 1939. My Dear Mother: We plunged into June at high temperature 95 in the shade yesterday. At midnight it also was hot.  Today it may rain.  We are in session considering a bill to increase the limit on the authority to issue bands and borrow money. I am not on any committee dealing with finance, so I shall have to give attention to the debate. There is a big grist of bills to grind.  I fear we may be here longer than usual. I look forward to seeing you- probably on the 10th Best love, Warren
