The Mayflower Washington, D.C. June 24, '39 My Dear Mother: Short session of Senate today. Mildred is dressing & I can write you- We are going out to the [ ] swimming pool for a swim.  Afterward we go to Grasslands Club as guests of Sen. & Ms. Garey [Gerry?] for dinner.  It is just the right temperature today and very bright. I am leaving an interesting letter from a descendant of Roswell Mears brother copied and sent to you- Your wonder how I feel about the neutrality act raises a mixed answer: I would repeal the neutrality act if we did not leave a President like Roosevelt- I dout [doubt] if I would do it while he is the executive, but the issue will not be so simple. We will have a new act proposed which will give him more power than the neutrality repeal would leave him.  So I shall probably not vote for my iea but for [for] the least objectionable bill- Love from us both- Warren
