My Dear Mother:
We had an interesting day
yesterday.
I inspected Fort Adams,
the coast defense here, and
a wine layer.
Today I will inspect
the torpedo station and
a fortification down
nearer the coast.
There are many palatial
houses here and we
visited one of the most
beautiful of them yesterday.
Ms. Taylor Nichols.
Went into the ocean
at Bayley Beach Club
and popped out as quick
as I could. It was cold
as ice.
I am sending you
the place card of my
table companion last
night for dinner here-
Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt.
