					<l>United States Senate</l>
					<l>Washington, D.C.</l>
					<l>Oct. 19, 1939.</l>
					<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
					<l>Our old friend Senator McCarran</l>
					<l>is debating now.  He is against</l>
					<l>the Resolution.</l>
					<l>There is talk in the</l>
					<l>corridors that we may begin</l>
					<l>to vote on amendments</l>
					<l>next week, but internal</l>
					<l>signs indicate that a</l>
					<l>fillibuster is on.  For</l>
					<l>example Sen. Holman</l>
					<l>was lended a speech</l>
				</lg>
			</p>
			<pb n='2'/>
			<p>
				<lg>
					<l>all written and ready to read</l>
					<l>and was asked by Sen. Nye</l>
					<l>to deliver the speech.  This</l>
					<l>is clearly unncessary</l>
					<l>for the purpose of</l>
					<l>educating anyone.  The</l>
					<l>subject has been exhausted.</l>
					<l>Well, I can stand it if</l>
					<l>necessary.</l>
					<l>I look forward to the</l>
					<l>arrival of Mildred tomorrow.</l>
					<l>Best love,</l>
					<l>Warren</l>
