United States Senate WASHINGTON, D. C. January 2, 1940 Dear Mother: We have heard that you are much better, and we are rejoicing. You are so wise that I feel confident that you will not overdo, however fine you may feel. Just take it easy for a while and you will again be able to shovel coal, and throw wood around, and spade the garden, and do other like jobs. No doubt you have seen the publicity regarding the Jackson Day Dinner invitation. I have just regretted it, as per the enclosed copies. Best love from both of us. Your devoted son Warren Mrs. Chauncey G. Austin, c/o Dr. Berkley's Sanitarium, St. Albans, Vermont.
