					<l>United States Senate</l>
					<l>WASHINGTON, D. C.</l>
					<l>January 2, 1940</l>
					<l>Dear Mother:</l>
<l>We have heard that you are much better, and</l>
					<l>we are rejoicing.</l>
<l>You are so wise that I feel confident that</l>
<l>you will not overdo, however fine you may feel.</l>
<l>Just take it easy for a while and you will again</l>
<l>be able to shovel coal, and throw wood around,</l>
<l>and spade the garden, and do other like jobs.</l>
<l>No doubt you have seen the publicity regarding</l>
<l>the Jackson Day Dinner invitation. I have just</l>
<l>regretted it, as per the enclosed copies.</l>
<l>Best love from both of us.</l>
					<l>Your devoted son</l>
