My Dear Mother:
I did not write you
yesterday. The day was
so broken by unexpect-
ed events that I did
not do so.
I am glad to have
your letter expressing
your approbation
of our attitude toward
the Jackson Dinner.
Now, Mildred & I have
accepted with pleasure
a dinner invitation to
Senator Barkley's.
(Leader of the Majority- Ros
knows him.) This will
be as democratic as
can be but it will
not commit us to
any partisan position.
I am so glad that
Ros & Katha are so
good to you. It is
characteristic of them. I
know they enjoy their
loving service for you.
It is fine to know
that Miss Lennah will
also room with you.
I have accepted an
invitation to speak at
Louisville, Ky. Feb. 10
at a Lincoln Day Dinner.
Congress is moving
forward slowly.
