<l>Hotel Owyhee</l>
<l>C.F. Mann, Manager</l>
<l>Boise, Idaho</l>
<l>Jan. 25, 1940.</l>
<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
<l>We have escorted Senator</l>
<l>Borah's remains to the</l>
<l>State House where it will</l>
<l>lie until after the ceremony</l>
<l>this afternoon.</l>
<l>Expect to get breakfast</l>
<l>in a half hour.</l>
<l>Have already found an old</l>
<l>resident who, as a newshawk, was</l>
<l>acquainted with Wm. H. Clagget</l>
<l>who was elected the first Senator</l>
<l>from Idaho, but on a contested</l>
<l>election was disqualified. He</l>
<l>was called a silver tongued orator.</l>
<l>He was father of Mabel Lucus</l>
<l>wife of Mildred's uncle Fred.</l>

<l>It is much warmer here and is</l>
<l>snowing.</l>
<l>Just received telegram from</l>
<l>Mildred saying she has</l>
<l>received a letter from you</l>
<l>since I left. The outlook</l>
<l>from the hotel here is not</l>
<l>edifying but I</l>
<l>judge that this city of</l>
<l>about the size of Burlington</l>
<l>is quite attractive.</l>
<l>Best love,</l>
