stration that I do not know it

Sen. Ashurst is one of the most
eloquent statesman in the Senate.
He is also quick with retort
that strikes one as elegant
and witty.
I now recall an episode
here soon after the Democratic
National Convention in 1932.
which adotped a plank favoring
beer legislation in which the then
Senate from Connecticut was
interested- Sen. Bringham.
Sen. Ashurst was speaking.
Sen. Bringham- a farmer professor
in Yale-interrupted:
Mr President. Will the Senator yield?
Sen. A. retorted "Mr. President, I
suffer from an inferiority
complex whenever the Senator
from Connecticut asks me to
yield.
I fear I may split an infinitive
or, give vent to a pleonasm."

look up, PLEONASM!
