My Dear Mother:
It looks some like
a filibuster! The
extraordinary procedure
last night of some one
else than the majority
leader making a
motion to adjourn till
Monday when the
leader was trying to
lead up to a recess until
this A.M. shows the
bitter split there is in
New Deal ranks and
the fear they have of
the effect of the
Hatch Bill on the
coming election.
If they could keep
talking until some
privileged legislation
comes up, or, if
they could get an adjournment
instead of a recess, they could
displace the pending business.
That would kill the Hatch
Bill-
Their conduct helps some
to overcome them in the
next election-
