My Dear Mother:
I have missed writing you
for two days. Yesterday
Mildred sent you the
Mayflower Log which may
interest you.
The sun is shining & I
walked up here thro [thro]
The Mall- about 2 1/2 miles.
The European situation
puts us more & more on
guard. I think it forces
the hand of bluffers
who cover their selfish
interest with the pharisaical
pretense that we are neutral
and who advocate
"isolation" or "insulation."
The public is beginning
to demand candor
& I am gratified by it.
Someday look back
to your Cong. Records
of October 11, 17, & 19. It
would amuse you.
