Up at daybreak. Walked
to Office, Dictated rush
mail & brief for a Comm.
in the House- at 8.50 A.M.
embarked for Fort Belvoir
where I witnessed with others
trial of several types of
rifles- Sat back to
office at 11.30. Attended
to Committee work-
Looked over the Senate
situation- Went to House
Floor where I interviewed
Sam Rayburn, the honored
leader of the Majority
and many representatives
to demonstrate the
merit of my bill for
the relief of Katherine
M. Drier which is
vigorously opposed
by big banks who
claim an interest in
the German Special Deposit
Account. The committee on
War Claims will meet tomorrow
and I am working myself
bald headed to get the bill
favorably reported-
Now I am back at my
post in the Senate.
Tonight we will dine
with Justice and Mrs. Stone.
