My Dear Mother:
The patience of Senators
is stretched to the limit
by the prolonged debate
on the conscription bill.
I suppose that we will
arrive at a wiser decision
by the process of
deliberation.
Many individuals
have such confidence
in their own opinions
that it is difficult to
make the concessions
necessary to quick
or even reasonable
decision-
This week I may not
get home until Saturday
because Sen. McNary
will go home Friday to
his ratification ceremony.
