My Dear Mother:
I am back on the Senate floor.
What a wonderful saving of time
and nervous energy the
transportation by air is!!
flew down last night in
3 1/2 hours.  It was comfortable
and interesting.  The
lights in the sky were
superb.
I am glad that we have
acquired the island leases
for Military and naval bases.


That fortifies us much.
It is tangible evidence
of our determination to
defend this country
from Hitler and the other
maniacs.
It is beautiful weather
here now.
It was pleasant to
visit with you and Ros
