					<l>United States Senate</l>
					<l>Washington</l>
					<l>Sept. 24, 1940.</l>
					<l>My Dear Mother:</l>
					<l>Senator Burke has the floor.</l>
<l>These days are productive days for</l>
<l>him.  He is very active.  He failed</l>
<l>to be renominated in the Nebraska</l>
<l>Primary, so he will not be a Senator long.</l>
					<l>The consequences is to stimulate</l>
					<l>his advocacy of anti-New Deal</l>
					<l>measures (like the Walters-Logan</l>
					<l>Bill) and to make a strong opposition</l>
<l>to the Third Term.  On the latter</l>
					<l>subject he is holding hearings</l>
					<l>on a resolution to amend the</l>
					<l>Constitution so that only one</l>
					<l>term of six years duration</l>
<l>can be served by one man.</l>
<l>It is apparent that we will</l>
<l>not be able to adjourn this week.</l>
					<l>Best love,</l>
					<l>Warren</l>
