United States Senate Washington Sept. 24, 1940. My Dear Mother: Senator Burke has the floor. These days are productive days for him.  He is very active.  He failed to be renominated in the Nebraska Primary, so he will not be a Senator long. The consequences is to stimulate his advocacy of anti-New Deal measures (like the Walters-Logan Bill) and to make a strong opposition to the Third Term.  On the latter subject he is holding hearings on a resolution to amend the Constitution so that only one term of six years duration can be served by one man. It is apparent that we will not be able to adjourn this week. Best love, Warren
