My Dear Mother:
We are having a ripping
tearing debate over a
subsidy for Lehman Bros.
to start an airmail route
that parallels ones
that we already have
subsidized. The debate
will probably last
two or three days. I
regard this as another
New Deal way of rewarding
its henchmen. I have
been told that it was
promised to Lehman
for political favors.
This is a rotten
world!
The issue of war
draws nearer. I hope
we can get ready
in time-
