May 5, 1943. Rail Removal Project, Burlington, Vermont. This view shows Rail Removal Project on Main Street in front of U.S. Post Office where a hot-mix asphalt pavement had been constructed over the top of the rails to a depth of 2 to 3 inches. Retail stores on the left include the State Liquor Store, Federal Savings and Loan and business sign advertising personal loans.
