October 1, 1942. Photo No. 18. This view of Staniford Road shows the method of applying the washed sand for curing purposes. Note the surface of the Soil-Cement Pavement at the right. A layer of approximately three-quarters (3/4) of an inch of washed sand was spread over the entire surface and kept moist for one week with the aid of the asphalt distributor which was used for applying the water. Work done by the Burlington Street Dept.
